It was a magical morning in November: my first visit to the Osho Commune in Pune, four decades ago.Walking past the German Bakery towards the Gateless Gate, the entrance, my steps suddenly slowed. My breathing turned calm and cool. It felt as if an invisible cloud of grace was hovering all around, like a gentle intoxication. You are not, and yet you are.All around were people in their hundreds and thousands, young and old, of every colour, from all over the world. Their faces were happy and shining in their maroon robes. The Gateless Gate felt like the entrance to Alice's wonderland. The whole commune was throbbing with festivity and celebration. The Presence of Osho!A thrill gripped my heart with awe, and a wordless call invited me to join the grand celebration happening all around.Soon my young, educated mind started explaining it to itself: this is freedom, this is paradise, this is utopia. The world should be like this, one humanity working together and living together in happiness and harmony. Maybe this is the dream our collective consciousness has been longing for, for ages.In those days, Osho centres were run from homes in many towns and cities, with a library of books and audio tapes and weekend meditations. The bond among sannyasins was thicker than blood. It was one global community, with one dream and one vision: love, laughter, sharing, meditating and celebrating. The caravan kept growing. More and more seekers joined, and many ashrams came up.Like every movement, ours has seen its share of differences and disagreements over the years. Yet the winner, as always, is Osho's message of love. The creative force of Osho's vision keeps growing with each passing day, rising above the small obstacles along the way.Now it is time for the first and second generations to guide, support and make way for the third generation: Gen Z.Gen Z is technologically smart, authentic and well-informed. What amazes me most is their sharp ability to see through the hypocrisy of the older generations and the system. They are global citizens, with no interest in glorifying war or destruction. They belong to the future of planet Earth. They may well become Osho's vision of Homo novus, the New Humanity.Once, in a meeting with a group of young people, I was asked: "Can you recommend someone whose presence can inspire us to go on the inner journey?"That question kept echoing inside me, and maybe it will for others too. One thing is certain: the new generation cannot be fooled by words or promises. They want to experience for themselves. And for that, Osho has left everything they need: his meditations, his words, and a loving sangha to share the journey with. The inner journey, Osho says, is an adventure. It is the ultimate adventure, even harder than climbing Everest, and only the courageous and the rebellious choose it. Being with Osho, this adventure has been an awesome experience: tremendously fulfilling, incredible, and beyond anything in this life or on this earth that could tempt me away from it.By Swami Dhyan Pulak
