Meditation Techniques for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Your Inner Calm
Starting a meditation practice can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Meditation is moving away from non-stop thinking and learning to be present in each moment. It is about being in touch with reality and everything is real except what we think. The whole journey can be divided into three steps. It begins with body awareness. Go on doing your daily chores and simply be watchful of your body doing that. Body is walking and you watch it. Body does things like eating, talking, writing, reading, singing etc and you go on watching the body doing these activities. It will bring a certain relaxation and grace to the body. It will also relax the mind. The second step is to watch the thoughts. We think that we think but actually thoughts think us. Being watchful of every thought that comes to the mind develops a gap between us and the thoughts. It relaxes the incessant flow of thoughts however it is important to not repress thoughts. You go on watching without any judgement whatsoever. The third step is to watch feelings which is the deepest. As you complete these three steps, you are home.

What is happening in Pune?
Anuragi, who was visiting Pune this week, was asked about recent events at the Resort by Rashid and Punya.
Some say it was like the fall of the Berlin Wall while the Indian press portray it as a scuffle by lawless protesters. So, what really happened on Osho’s Enlightenment Day in Pune?
Rashid and Punya asked Anuragi, the ‘Archivist’, to describe what he saw on the three days he was there for the celebration.
Anuragi tells us that on Monday, 20th March, the day before the Enlightenment Day, he became aware of 3 separate groups of security in and around the property; a dozen or so police, a squad of blue-uniformed security and, at the gate, 20 or more black-suited bouncers or ‘bruisers’. Plus an array of barricades were placed along the street at the front gate.
He was so shocked that he sought out Dyanesh and suggested that such a show of force would most likely promote violence in a peaceful gathering of disciples, whose prevailing wish was to sit in silence in the samadhi of their beloved master. Dhyanesh referred him to Mukesh who was out of station.

For the last 23 years, followers of Osho were not permitted to wear an Osho mala – a string of beads with a locket – inside the very ashram established by the godman in Pune. Things changed today when the ashram’s controversial trust submitted to the demands of a group of “rebel” followers.
A similar protest had taken place in January. On March 21, celebrated by Osho’s followers as his “enlightenment day”, the protesters sought police protection to enter the ashram – and permission that they be allowed to wear the mala while doing so. A spokesperson for the ashram told Indian Express, “Everyone is welcome but they will have to follow the rules and regulations of the resort.”

It has been celebrating only the monsoon festival in August and the New Year festival regularly. And about 500-700 people were attending. This year’s Osho Enlightenment Day celebration in Pune will bring together three or four times more people (1,500-2,100, or even more) than any monsoon festival.”

Osho is the most well-known and controversial spiritual Master of our time. His books have sold millions of copies and his message continues to be relevant today. This documentary aims to represent his life through first hand recollections from people who have lived close to him. What is unique about this film is that the director-producer is himself an insider of the Osho movement, so he had access to those involved in the experience that no other director probably would. The film, however, is not a propaganda piece. It will, on the contrary, examine all elements of Osho’s life, including the contentious ones. The work contains previously unreleased footage recorded throughout the world.

Osho Birthday Special :

“You want me to be jobless?”
Bhagwan develops an ear infection and asks me to find a local doctor. Along with Amrito I accompany Dr Jog to Bhagwan’s room. To find out about the infection, he starts by pushing a probe into His ear… then pressing deeper and observing Bhagwan’s expressionless Face alertly. The rising concern on his face is indisputable and he Finally snaps, “Isn’t this hurting?” “Yes it is very painful,” replies an unruffled Bhagwan making the doctor fly off the handle! He had been waiting to detect the point beyond which it hurts and stop there, for to go any further was dangerous! It pierces through my heart how, although acutely aware of it, Bhagwan lives at a distance from His body, and so also from any pain.

Many followers came to the centre to visit the commune as it was Guru Pournima on Wednesday, but the authorities did not give them entry, stating that it was against norms.
“A curfew was imposed in the area surrounding the centre. All the revenue earned from Osho’s intellectual property is diverted elsewhere. The present administration is trying to sell the ashram property,” said Kirti and raised the issue of selling the land of Osho Ashram.
Ma Sadhana, spokesperson, Osho International Commune in Pune, said, “Registration and gate pass is a must to enter the premises. Those who followed it were allowed in .Those who didn’t, were not.”
According to Kirti, even as Osho’s place of birth and death is in India, Westerners have the recognition rights of Osho’s intellectual property, books, audio tapes, audio-visual tapes, and trust property.
“He spent most of his time in India. However, Westerners have the recognition rights of Osho’s intellectual property, books, audio tapes, audio-visual tapes, and trust property. The headquarters of Osho International has been shifted to Zurich, where all the benefits are going. Many restrictions are being imposed on followers without allowing Osho’s thoughts to reach the people. All the money from the literature claiming Osho’s intellectual property goes to Zurich. Indian Osho ashrams, especially those in Pune, do not get any income from it. On the contrary, they are showing their dominance over the management here,” he said.

When Vinod Khanna spoke about leaving films and family for Osho: ‘Everybody has to travel alone’
By: Entertainment Desk New Delhi | Updated: April 28, 2021 08:32 IST
Vinod Khan passed away on April 27, 2017, after battling bladder cancer for years. Today, on his fourth death anniversary, we revisit his tryst with Osho and what Akshaye Khanna said about his father’s decision of leaving films at the peak of his career.
Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna was a man who charmed his way into the hearts of the audience in the 1970s and 1980s. His diverse body of work brought him accolades, and he became the leading man of Hindi cinema with his smouldering good looks. At the peak of his career, however, Khanna quit showbiz and became a follower of spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh. He frequented Pune’s Osho International Meditation Resort (Osho Ashram), and in 1982, he shifted to Rajneeshpuram in Oregon in the US to be with his guru.
When Indira sought Osho secretary’s help to persuade Rajiv Gandhi to enter politics
Article about Laxmi being asked by Indira Gandhi to help persuade Rajiv Gandhi to enter politics. Published in Economic Times, India, on December 10, 2017.
After Sanjay Gandhi’s death in a plane crash, his mother Indira Gandhi wanted her other son Rajiv to give up being a professional pilot and enter politics and sought the help of Osho’s secretary Laxmi to persuade him, claims a new book.
Indira Gandhi, India’s fourth prime minister, was interested in spiritual life like her father Jawaharlal Nehru, says poet-artist Rashid Maxwell in “The Only Life: Osho, Laxmi, and the World in Crisis”.
“From an early age, she had been touched by the words and the being of Osho. She was, however, first and foremost an ambitious politician so she never actually came to his ashram even when she was in Poona because Osho was already a controversial figure by then,” the book says.
