Save Buddha Hall Campaign Launched

New Delhi, 14 November 2002: A delegation of Osho lovers and disciples is planning to call on the Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Shri Vinod Khanna, who is also a long time Osho disciple, to stop the destruction of the Buddha Hall in Pune. "The Pagoda shaped temple where Osho gave His discourses must not be touched and maintained in it's original form at all costs," says Swami Chaitanya Keerti.

Ever since the publication of the news of the pulling down of this sacred spiritual heritage of the Enlightened Master, Osho World has been inundated with phone calls and E Mails from hundreds of Osholovers from all over the world expressing their anguish over this incident.

One of the earliest E Mails, said, "The fragrance of life that Osho infused in all of us is something that has brought about a mega transformation in so many of us. The Buddha Hall was /is a place full of vibrant yet soothing energy and it needs to be preserved at all costs

Another said, "I read through the news and would like to participate or be instrumental in any way to preserve the legacy Osho has left for us. Please do let me know how I could assist."

A long standing Osho disciple said, "The energy created in the space of the Buddha Hall is something very unique and he worked very hard to make this happen by insisting that all those who entered were freshly bathes, wore clean clothes and had no smell and sat silently before he came to give his 'darshan'. Over a quarter of a century of this he worked to create this energy, why is it being destroyed now? We must do all we can to preserve this spiritual legacy at all costs."

Another said, "For Osho disciples, this place as sacred as the Vatican or the Golden Temple and will become so for millions who will follow him in the future. No one has the right to demolish this now or in future."

"Osho strove so intensely to create what he called 'a Buddha field' in this hall where people can go into deep meditation very easily," said another Osholover, "This took a great deal of time as for many years people remained totally silent and meditated deeply in this hall and these sacred vibrations, this magnetic aura, this sacred space is now being demolished."

"This Buddha Hall belongs to all who came to be with Osho between 1975 and 1990 and no one - absolutely no one - has the right to demolish the space where thousands upon thousands had their first experience of the bliss of meditation, the experience of being so close to the Master seated in his Japanese Pagoda style podium and the benediction when, on his arrival, he greeted everyone of the ten thousand present with an eye to eye contact. How can anyone who claims to be working for Osho even think of destroying it?" he added.

"Now we have only the podium left from where Osho delivered his discourses, " said an avid Osho reader, "These discourses are getting more and more popular now and will become more so in the future, so we should not destroy the venue - a global spiritual heritage - from where they were delivered."

"The photographs, the video recordings of Osho are mostly taken in this hall and destroying this hall is destroying the venue where he lived. In this light, the next building to be razed down will be Osho's samadhi!" she added.
