Open up! Throw your doors and windows open. Let wind and rain and sun come in. let people enter into you and you enter into people's lives. That is the only way to become aware of the tremendous mystery of life, says Osho, the Zen master.
The recent decision given bythe US Trademark Trials and Appeal Board, which established that “Osho” cannot be trademarked, has raised many issues. Osho sannyasins, lovers and meditation centers have been talking and discussing privately and on the internet.
There have been statements from the Osho Meditation Resort in Pune denigrating the cancellation. In one statement by Amrit Sadhana, the spokesperson of the resort, claims that Osho is a registered trademark in more than 40 other countries.
There have been fears of misuse of Osho’s name. The name Osho being generic can be easily used for computers or tissue, in the absence of trademarks.
There has been a lot of confusion in the sannyas community about what a trademark is, what it does and how it affects Osho’s work.
This issue of Osho World Online provides light on this very subject of Osho trademarks and copyrights and different viewpoints.
You are invited to post your comments on this topic which concerns the whole world of Osho.
The other theme of this issue of the Osho World Online is “Enlightenment”. This is a tough one and yet very simple. It can be an arduous journey and yet just a click away. How are we to write on this existential phenomenon? But we all do have our own perceptions and experiences of this greatest of all experiences. What do we do when one of us disciples get enlightened? In this issue, we have an article on Tyohar, a simple young Israeli Goa-DJ, who declared his enlightenment as a disciple of Osho and is sharing the blessing bestowed on him. There may be others who have attained the same and there are of course, many many pretenders as we all know. Maybe we will have a separate special issue of Osho World Online on them as well “The Pseudo Gurus”. Please do write your experiences with the enlightened ones.
