TAKING CARE OF THE BODY FOR A MEDITATOR IN DAILY LIFE

“The body serves you for seventy, eighty, ninety, even a hundred years, and there is no other mechanism that science has been able to invent which can be compared to the body. Its complexities, its miracles that it goes on doing for you... and you don't even say thank you. You treat your body as your enemy, and your body is your friend.”

Osho
From unconsciousness to consciousness #29

Taking care of the body sounds very simple but if you deeply go into the statement it actually implies many things. Taking care of the body means taking care of oneself, and which further means loving oneself and giving a little time to oneself. Whenever we can give a little time to our own self we are coming back to our sources of life energy, just the way we go to sleep to come back fresh with a fountain of energy to live the new day.

Here is a simple and small way to take care of the body and get in contact with oneself through the body

Whenever you are tired in the evening, coming home after a long day of work you can take 20 minutes for yourself.

Take a bucket of hot water and put one tablespoon of salt and one tablespoon of bicarbonate in it and slowly dip your feet into it. Feel all the sensation of the hot water touching your feet and slowly feeling the hot water on the ankles and then on the lower legs. Keep enjoying the warmth of the water. Now close your eyes and let go all the tensions of the day out of your body through your feet into the water. The salt and the bicarbonate help to eliminate toxins for the body. Then scrub your feet and give a cold wash to improve the blood circulation in the legs. You may add few drops of essential oil of rose in the water.

This simple way of caring for your body can become a meditation and will give u some time to be just by yourself to rejuvenate your energy. You will then realize that just 20 minutes of love given to the body can be so fruitful.
