Venus in the Sky with Diamonds

Swami Chaitanya Keerti

Swami Chaitanya Keerti takes his thoughts to a different planet

We are fortunate that beautiful things are happening in our lifetime - as no one alive today could have been witness to such a spectacular event on july 8 when the rarest solar eclipse by Venus was visible to 75 per cent of Earth. Last time this transit happened in 1882.

What does this mean for humans? It is like a momentary (in the universe
the time-scale is not the same, a moment could be not less than eternity) Nataraj dance of Shiva and Shakti. The Sun is Lord Shiva or the male and Venus, our Goddess Parvati or the Shakti - and it is their celestial interplay. Shakti, the Venus, is all powerful to eclipse Shiva, the Sun. Astrologically speaking, it does have significance in people's love life. Frank McNally, an Irish astrologer says, "There's bad news and good news about Venus' transit across the face of the sun. If you look at it directly, it could seriously damage eyesight. But it
could improve love life."

This universe is an organic phenomenon - there's inner connectivity. The smallest blade of grass on Earth is connected with the farthest, unseen star. We are affected in positive or negative ways by these beings. It is natural because we get affected even by meaningless things. A dog passing by, a cat walking around us trigger something in us. We live in the world of vibrations.

In existence, everything is constantly vibrating - and we are vibrating
with everything. This is the heartbeat of the universe. The harmony of
opposites like Yin and Yang, day and night, Shiva and Shakti, male and female. Their longing to meet and merge when they become separated.

In reality they are never separated - they only appear to be. Transits of Venus are rare and powerful. Women are from Venus, we all know. So when the planet aligns with the sun, according to the website astrologycom.com, "the principle life force is united with love, female energy, harmony, and the goddess principle". A transit promises everything from romantic breakthroughs to "great shifts in human consciousness". And if we meditate in such moments we may become fully enlightened. This meeting of man and woman is not confined to the outside world - deeper meeting happens inside, because deep down we are both.

Modern psychology, particularly the Jungian school of psychology, is based on the premise that man is bisexual and so is woman. If your conscious mind is a man, your unconscious will be a woman.

But to manage inner meeting is difficult first because its invisible.
First learn the lesson with the visible. Meet with outer woman, outer man. Then search in, find polarity. The day inner man and woman meet, you are enlightened.

Unless you know the woman outside, in richness, sweetness and bitterness; and the outer man in beauty and ugliness, you will not be able to move to the inner dimension. You will not be able to allow Shiva and Shakti, to meet inside. And that meeting is of utter importance because only then do you become a god.

Determination opens many doors

Swami Chaitanya Keerti

We often say we are seeking truth or searching God and we want our life to be peaceful, content and blissful. We make efforts to attain all this but our efforts don't produce any results. We become more frustrated than before. This is all because our efforts are lukewarm and our quest has no real determination and strength.

Osho once told the story of a Sufi saint, Farid. A man once asked him the way to attain God. Farid looked into his eyes and saw thirst. He was on his way to the river so he asked the man to accompany him and promised to show him the way to attain God after they'd bathed.

They arrived at the river and as soon as the man plunged, Farid grabbed the man's head and pushed it down into the water with great force. The man began to struggle to free himself from Farid's grip.

He was much weaker than the saint but his latent strength gradually began to stir and soon it became impossible for the saint to hold him down. The man pushed himself to the limit and was eventually able to get out of the river. He was shocked. Farid was laughing loudly.

After the man calmed down, the saint asked him, "When you were under the water what desires did you have in your mind?" He replied, "Desires! There weren't desires, there was just one desire - to get a breath of air." The saint said, "This is the secret of attaining God. This is determination. And your determination awakened all your latent powers."

In a real moment of intense determination, great strength is generated - and a man can pass from the world into truth; by determination one can awaken from the dream to the truth.

Where does man come from?
Swami Chaitanya Keerti

The modern man has a deep trust in science because science more often than not
tries to give some logical answers to eternal questions. Recently a genetic
study found that the 13th century warrior Genghis Khan was a "prolific lover."
It also found that nearly eight per cent of the men living in the region of the
former Mongol empire carry Y-chromosomes that are nearly identical with that of
Genghis Khan.

Spiritually speaking, this report answers one question but raises many questions.

Another geneticist, Spencer Wells, who claimed to have analysed DNAs of people
from all over the world, concluded that all human beings have descended from a
single man who lived in Africa around 60,000 years ago.

Now, we can conclude that this man who lived in Africa around 60,000 years ago,
must have been our own Brahma, the original source of all life in this universe.
But then the question remains from where did this African come from? What was
before him, so on and so forth? Another question arises that whether in the last
60,000 years enlightened beings as Lord Krishna, the Buddha, Lord Mahavira,
LaoTse, Guru Nanak, Kabir among many others, descended from this African man?

Science tries to demystify creation and many people believe the answers. But
creation remains a mystery despite all answers. The life of a scientist, who
tries to demystify creation, will also end one day. Sadly, even he doesn't know
where he came from and where he will go. Does any one know?
